Hand therapy can provide expert treatment for fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, forearms and elbows. Conditions we treat include sprains, strains, dislocations, fractures, repetitive strain injuries, nerve compression conditions such as carpal tunnel, and other chronic conditions such as arthritis.
The Motus health hand therapists are physiotherapists with sports backgrounds. Additionally they have significant expertise in treating sports-related hand injuries. They hold post-graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy and hand therapy, and are registered with Hand Therapy New Zealand.
Because our hand therapists are also fully qualified sports physiotherapists, they will take a holistic view of your injury, not just focussing on your current injury but how this affects your entire upper limb and your ability to return to sport.
We offer a wide range of off-the-shelf splints, and we can fabricate a customised splint as necessary. Accident-related injuries from the elbow down will often qualify for ACC assistance towards treatment and cost of splinting, when performed by a hand therapist. If your hand, wrist, forearm or elbow injury is the result of an accident, we can assist with your ACC application – just let us know when you book your appointment or when you come in.
